bladensburg. the you're traveling this way this morning be prepared for slick roadways. it is going to be a dicey commute this morning. give yourself enough time on the roadways. then we slide a little bit further to the south and west and we can see south and east rather and week see what's going on -- we can see what's going on around salem and airy brick house landing. and also vienna and ralph, mardela springs light snow this morning as well. it is going to be a winter-type day i must say because we have a winter weather advisory across the area until about 9:00. this will subside and we will get more sunshine in the forecast mixing with the clouds but that sun not going to help with the temperatures at all. another very cold day on tap. frigid if you must say. 14-degrees in sykesville. west friendship at 11 and with the winds out of the north we are going to be feeling a lot colder than that. by 3:00 that temperature at 27 but feeling like we're in the teens. we are -- when you head out this morning you will be dealing with the cold but also

a little bit of snow. so abc2 news linda so is out live in hampton this morning with more on how conditions are there. main roads appear to be okay linda but it's the side roads where you are that's causing the problems. >> reporter: we have jet to see a snow truck go by and you know often these neighborhood roads are the last priority when it comes to events like this. you see about an inch on the road. snow-covered and this is why. some areas schools are calling in a delay or cancellations today because this is what it looks like in the neighborhood. as you leave your house in the morning your sidewalks are going to be snow-covered. nothing too big of a deal where you're going to have to shovel a lot. but this snow is light and it is sticking to the cars. again you won't need that ice scraper because you can see here it dusts off pretty easily. but give yourself some extra time to get out of the house as you perhaps want to walk the dog the morning. snow boots are in order. also we got off the phone with maryland state highways.
6:04 am
they say they deployed their salt trucks around 1:00 this morning. a couple hundred of them in the baltimore area. they started salting the roads before the snow started falling. but again, because the pavement temperatures and the air temperatures are below freezing you might find some slick spots. on the highways this morning there are passable lanes but there may be some slick spots so take it a little bit more slowly. also keep in mind if you see a salt truck get out of the way let them do their job because they are still in a salting only ration. but -- operation. but again this is what neighborhood roads look like this morning. snow-covered and you'll find snow on the cars and you'll want the give yourself some extra time this morning. we're live in hampton, linda so, abc2 news. all right, and maybe more sweeping snow this morning. linda thanks. you could be encountering slippery roadways out there and lauren is standing by with the abc2 timesaver traffic report. >> it's a busy morning out there. we're dealing with accidents

three story brick building was fully engulfed in flames. again this is an end of group commercial building for a local business. the first, second and third floors were engulfed in flames. heavy fire on all of the floors made it unsafe for firefighters to actually go inside. so they had to fight the fire from the outside of the building. again, no one was inside that building. no one was hurt in this fire. because of the cold temperatures, an mta bus was brought in for shelter to help people keep warm if nay needed. investigators are on the scene trying to figure out what happened here this morning. reporting live in northeast baltimore, sherrie johnson, abc2 news. a developing story for you on this thursday, speed cameras in baltimore city aren't dishing out tickets right now. the city's department of transportation is working with a new vendor to replace the old speed cameras. a spokeswoman says the city is required to take down all cameras until the new system is up and running. that move comes after it was revealed a number of cameras

to the south around ocean city. snow hill, yes, very appropriate that name is living up to it today. corbin also getting in on the heavier snow this morning and also pocomoke city. stockton also. so traveling on the roadways this morning give yourself enough time on the roadways. it is going to be a very slick commute this morning and a very cold commute this morning as well. as we are looking at the temperatures coming in the teens but feeling more like we are in the single digits once again because we have the winds out of the north. now high pressure will build in as we go throughout the day. you can see that at the surface here and it will mix with some clouds. this is the system that's working its way out of the area. and once it does we'll have another round of some snow because we have an alberta clipper that's going to come through and clip us as we go through tomorrow evening. your tomorrow commute, evening commute is going to be on the snowy side. we're thinking about maybe an inch or two across the area once again. and it will be that dry snow that you can just sweep away. for today though that planner looks like this as we go into the afternoon. the high temperature coming in
